SIMPLY GARDENERS

Our student ministry does not “Save” kids.  Salvation comes through the free gift of grace offered by Jesus Christ alone.  Our staff wants Christ to rule in the lives of all young people that walk in and out of this church, but that commitment is not ours to make.  We as a Staff realize that we are nothing more than gardeners.  As gardeners we scatter seeds of faith, through the teaching of scripture, truth and sound doctrine.  Our hope is that these seeds will land in good soil.  Additionally, we water these same seeds through the building of trust, fellowship, and friendship with our students.  In the end, the miracle of new life in Christ, is not something we can create, only something for which we hope and pray.

“Still other seed fell on good soil. It came up and yielded a crop, a hundred times more than was sown.”  When he said this, he called out, ‘He who has ears to hear, let him hear.’”  Luke 8:8

SUNDAY UMYF (United Methodist Youth Fellowship) – For Jr. and Sr. High students starting at 5:45 PM. We begin our night with a wonderful supper provided by our parents.  We then head to the youth loft, and enter into praise and worship.  After we sing, we dive into our lesson which is deeply rooted in scripture, our highest authority when teaching the students.  The lessons look at the context in which the passage was written, while at the same time, asking “How would this look today?” and “What does it mean for me in my life?”  UMYF is a wonderful environment for growing in your knowledge of the faith, and building lifelong friendships with brothers and sisters in Christ.

ENCOUNTER- Jr./Sr. High students gather on Wednesday night beginning at 6:00 PM.  The format is quite similar to Sunday UMYF, but has some distinctions.  For Junior High and High School students, school can often be overwhelming.  The primary purpose of Wednesday night encounter is to provide a time where the students can worship God through song, be encouraged or find strength through a scripture lesson, and briefly escape from the worries of the teenage world.

PRAYER BREAKFAST-Jr./Sr. High Students gather on Thursday Morning at Harlow’s Donuts at 7a.m.  A majority of the time is spent in fellowship while enjoying delicious donuts.  The last 5 to 10 minutes of breakfast, blank sheets of paper are given to all the students, and they as a group name joys and concerns in their own lives and the lives of others.  The students take their prayer list home and, continually pray for the mentioned concerns throughout the next week.

SUNDAY SCHOOL – For Jr./Sr. High students starting at 9:00 AM. Between classes, homework, sports, music, friends, family time, and other hobbies.. life can really be draining! That’s why you need “Soul Fuel” – the stuff you need to stay connected with God, to get spiritually recharged, and be energized and empowered for the situations life throws your way. Come check us out as we study devotions that will keep your tank full.
