Connect for Growth and Service

First United Methodist Church of Corinth has a wide variety of service and support ministries available to its congregation. Some of these include:

  • Various Bible Study/Discipleship Groups
    • Young Adult Sunday School Class – led by Greg Cooley
    • Meet/Share/Serve – Young adult small group which meets once a month on Wednesday nights (nursery provided).  This group also actively supports a local community ministry called Living Free Ministries.
    • Challenger Sunday School Class – for older adults
    • Bill Odom Sunday School Class – for older adults
    • Children’s and youth Sunday School Classes
    • Ladies Living Single Small Group Bible Study – meets on 1st & 3rd Thursdays at 10:30 am.  Ladies living single for any reason and any age are invited.
    • Women’s Ministry – Monthly Bible studies from September through May.  Host Lenten luncheons 6 weeks prior to Easter.  Proceeds go to local and state missions organizations.  Formerly United Methodist Women.
  • Music Ministry
  • Evangelism Team – Visit and take bread to first time visitors and write notes to repeat visitors.
  • Worship/Sanctuary Committee
  • Television Ministry / Sanctuary Audio – Want to learn a new and exciting hobby and skill?  The TV ministry and Sanctuary Audio crew could use you!  If you are interested in serving in either of these areas, please call the church office at 287-3111.  All age groups are welcome to volunteer.
  • Children’s Ministry Team
  • LOGOS Adult Volunteer (fall and spring)
  • Children’s Church Volunteers 
  • Acolyte Ministry (for 1st – 6th graders)
  • Women in Prayer -The Women in Prayer group meets every Tuesday at 10 am (or pray from home) to pray specifically for people placed on the prayer list as well as those who do not want to be put on the prayer list.  Please consider serving in this ministry.  Please call the church office if you would like more information.
  • Usher Ministry – each team of 3 or 4 serves about one time a month.
  • Greeter Team – each team of 2 serves one time a month greeting on Sunday morning before Sunday school at 9 am and worship service at 10 am.
  • Fillmore Street Chapel Committee – this committee is active in keeping our historic chapel in good condition.
  • Hospitality Committee:The hospitality ministry honors members or children of members who are getting married with a bridal tea.  The hospitality ministry also provides a light lunch or finger foods in the fellowship hall for funerals of members, if desired.  Please notify either Vonceil Smith at 287-1637 or Brenda Childs at 287-1675 so that plans can be made.
  • Visitation Ministry – hospital and nursing home visitation
  • Casserole Ministry – for sick and shut ins
  • Prayer Shawl Ministry (knitting group)
